Story:

I was born at Maxville, New South Wales in 1954. My dad Stanley George Foley was born at Nambucca Heads. My mum came from Manly. They got married in Sydney. I have 3 brothers and i am the only girl. I have lived on the south coast for 20 years.

I have studied at TAFE for 6 years and recently completed an Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts. I paint and surprised at myself for how far I have come. I have an unusual style. I paint what I see and feel, and instinctively choose my colours. I paint my family, landscapes and memories. I also weave traditional and contemporary style Dilly-Bags, Beanies, blankets and scarfs.

I had woven Dilly-Bags chosen for the 2004 TAFE Arts prize finalist whereby my artwork has traveled to regional galleries around New South Wales. The University of Wollongong have five of my prints as part of their permanent collection. I have exhibited at Wollongong City Gallery, Wollongong Court House, Long Gallery University of Wollongong and Paris.

The Boolarng Nangamai Aboriginal Art and Culture Studio enables me to keep practicing my art, continue my friendships with my Aboriginal community and practice my culture.
