The Trip to Broken Hill & Wilcannia

broken hillFlew to Broken Hill, Kell and Steve picked us up from the airport, drove out to Silverton the place looked greener since the last time we were here. We all made up some letters for a sign which were woven with grasses from the South Coast, these letters were to take out to Wilcannia Public School for a two day workshop, next day we go to Wilcannia, met with the local Elders, Teachers, and parents, done the workshop all day with the kids they helped weave the letters for the sign, the Kindergarden kids sang songs, all the community had a good time at the school. Our last day, we finished off the weaving with the kids help, had lunch at the school, then went to the local Wilcannia RadioSstation where Steve and I were interviewed on topics of the South Coast Culture and the local Wilcannia Culture, with radio Mureen who is a Wilcannia woman. The Woven letters read out to be ( Keeping Culture Strong and Alive) after interview we went to set up the signs on the mud flats of the Darling River, which was filmed by SKYPE and will be made into a small film.
